16 Islamic young women activists arrested

Narayongong: 18 people were arrested from Narayongonj Fatullah area including 16 members of Islami Chatri Sanstha (a female Islamic organisation). Among these, 6 are from the same family. Police confiscated some Islamic books from them.

Among the arrested were – the president of Islamic Chatri Sanstha from Fatullah branch and final year accounting student from Tolaram College Nacima Kefayet; her sister who is an active member of Fatullah branch and student of Eden College, Fahima Kefayet; another sister who is the organisation’s general member Kaniz Fatema Keya; her brother Ruhul Amin who is a member of Shibir; mum Maleka Begum and step mother Nilufa Begum and Ahsan Ullah.

Apart from them, others arrested were grade 9 students of Buimghar Islamic Darunnesa Madrasha -Koli Akter, Mukta Akter, Ayesha Akter, Nacima Akter, Asma Akter, Saima Begum, Neela, Meherun Nesa, Nasrin Sultana, Narayongonj female college first year student Latifa Aktar and grade 9 student of Amirul Milla Madrasa Urmi Akter.

The police claim they raided the 4th floor of the building owned by kafiot Ullah upon being informed of their meeting. They also arrested the president of Fatullah branch Nacima Kefayot, her two sisters, her mum and 16 other members of Chatri Sanstha and 2 members of Chatro Shibir from there.

The police confiscated some books written by Professor Golam Azam, Sayid Abul Ala Maududi and some notes, member forms, calendar, note books and diaries from them.

Fatullah Police Chief Officer Aktar Hossain confirmed the details. He said: 18 people including females were arrested following a secret investigation. They were having a meeting to sabotage.

Urmi Aktar, a 9th grade student of Amirut Millah informed, they all rent houses at Buimghar area. Only Nasima owns their house out of them. They were all invited there to celebrate their excellent results in JSC (Junior school certificate) exam on Tuesday.
All the students who were arrested scored “A+” in their JSC examination, informed their families.

Police officer Sajjadur Rahman informed at night “Those arrested are being interrogated”. After interrogation, cases will be filed against them. If anyone is innocent, they will be released.
